Ourense, 02/06/2020.- Rural people claim their space in Xantar, both for being the provider of indigenous products and for being the one that offers a different type of tourism, seasonally adjusted and of quality.

This was the common thread of the central act of the second day of the hall chaired by the territorial delegate of the Xunta de Galicia, Marisol Díaz, and in which the mayors of Parada de Sil and Viana do Bolo, who had the day dedicated an appeal to return to the countryside to appreciate all that it has to offer. Today was also the day dedicated to the Municipal Chamber of Vila Real, a Portuguese sister city with that of Ourense that has participated in Xantar since the first edition; and from the Vila Nova de Famalicao Chamber, which returns to the show with force after several years of absence from it.

Xantar is also the place chosen to present unique destinations to tourism and media professionals from different parts of Spain and Portugal. This was the case of INORDE, which took advantage of its participation in the show to present the Xeodestino “Terras de Celanova – Serra do Xurés”. The presentation was made by the president of INORDE, Rosendo Fernández, who was supported by a large part of the mayors of the 14 municipalities that make up this new geo-destination that combines the offer of cultural, thermal and nature tourism in the regions of Terra de Celanova and Baixa Limia.

And as has been the custom for 16 years, Xantar Thursday is the day dedicated to the Gastronomic Brotherhoods and Oenophiles, these gastronomic societies carry out important work in relation to the recovery of traditional products and dishes; to the edition of books, catalogs and recipes on native products; as well as its great contribution to the preservation of the culture and gastronomic tradition of towns and cities. More than 40 brotherhoods from Spain, Portugal and France participated in this 16th meeting.

Today the IV Xantar Gastronomic Tourism Workshop was also held, which brought together in Expourense 12 travel agencies specialized in tourism and gastronomy from Spain, Norway and Portugal with tourism representatives from the destinations present at the fair. business quotes.

This second day of Xantar 20120 continued with an intense program of activities in which the three gastronomic classrooms, in which chefs from 6 countries participated and the tasting room were complete throughout the whole day. Throughout this second day, the fourth and last seminifnale of the VIII Chef of the Year Contest and the IV Waiter of the Year Contest were also held. Eight chefs and five waiters from Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Euskadi, La Rioja and Navarra competed to reach the national final to be held in April 2020, at the Food Fair in Barcelona. The awards ceremony will be this afternoon at 7:30 p.m. The jury highlights the presence of the pastry chef Betina Montagne, jury of the “Bake off” program; gastronomic critic Carlos Capel; the runner-up in the first edition of this contest, chef Flavio Morganti; or the members of the Asociación Cociña Ourense, Miguel González and Marco Varela.
