This international event will support the candidacy of the Ribeira Sacra for UNESCO World Heritage

It presents more than 150 experiences, among which stand out the showcookings that will be imparted by prestigious chefs from 5 countries

Various tourist packages have been launched for visitors to live a gastronomic and thermal experience in the city of Ourense

Xantar 2020 was presented this afternoon at FITUR Madrid as the only international gastronomic tourism fair in Spain and one of the four international tourism fairs in the country. Xantar celebrates its 21st edition in Ourense between February 5 and 9 and will present a complete program of activities and a wide range of restaurants that will project a quality and sustainable image of food and wine tourism in the Iberian Peninsula.

Xantar 2020 presentation at FITUR had the participation of the director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Nava Castro; the Executive Vice President of Expourense and Deputy Mayor of Ourense, Jorge Pumar; the president of the Porto e Norte Tourism Entity, Luis Pedro Martins; the president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo González; the ambassador of Costa Rica in Spain, Helena Chacón; the representative of FEMULP of Peru, Giovanna Cheglio; and the territorial delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Ourense, Marisol Díaz. All of them agreed to highlight the role of gastronomy as a tourist motivation and as the best tool to promote the quality and sustainability of a destination.

The traditional and close cross-border cooperation with Portugal will also coexist with Ibero-American cooperation, since the presence in this edition of delegations of gastronomy and tourism professionals from countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia or Peru is confirmed. Regarding activities, Xantar will bring together renowned chefs from 5 countries who will teach live cooking workshops within the framework of the XV International Meeting of Healthy and Sustainable Gastronomy that will offer the public more than 150 experiences.

Another of the great novelties of this edition will be the international promotion of the Ribeira Sacra and the support for its candidature to be included as UNESCO World Heritage in 2021. The Ribeira Sacra will have a promotional stand from the Tourism and Tourism Consortium. various municipalities included in this area, with a restaurant led by the municipality of Parada de Sil and with the presence of the Regulatory Council for the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin. The prominence of the Ribeira Sacra in this edition is also protected with the support of both the Provincial Government of Ourense as well as that of Lugo or the Xunta de Galicia itself.

This event has an international character but without forgetting its roots and one of its fundamental objectives continues to be promoting local tourism. Xantar, already a tourist motivation in itself, has launched different packages to invite the traveler to enjoy a food and wine experience in Ourense, since the presence in the show will allow you to discover the tourist attractions of the countries represented and participate in the complete program of activities aimed at promoting the quality of its gastronomy, seen from a sustainable and healthy perspective.

With the same objective of promoting a destination through its gastronomy and the good results obtained in the previous edition, the «IV Gastronomic Tourism Workshop» is organized, in which a dozen tour operators from Spain and Norway will participate and will attend presentations already B2B meetings with representatives of the different gastronomic destinations present in the show.
